A guide to citation and research management tools.

Introduction to Citation Management

Students often wonder how to best manage the overwhelming pile of research that can accumulate while doing graduate coursework and dissertations. In this section, we have outlined several tools which are best used in the practice of organizing citations, journal articles, notes, links, interviews, recorded materials, and internet sources.

Just as each student’s research needs are unique, each of the tools discussed below are also unique, offering a wide variety of advantages and disadvantages. You should take time to familiarize yourself with each of these technologies in order to discover which is right for you.
